The American Optometric Association (AOA) recommends that all children be seen by an optometrist between the ages of six and twelve months. We don't expect your young ones to tell us what they're seeing, especially when they're learning how to crawl! At Antelope Valley Optometric Center, we have specially-made equipment that will allow us to assess your child's vision without any input needed:
• Pediatric visual acuity cards, known as the Cardiff Acuity Test, allow us to assess your child's vision without any response - simply by a directional looking.
• Welch Allyn Spot vision screener uses lights and sounds to engage children, and allows doctors to perform a fun, simple vision screening.
